Ron Thornburgh
Ron Thornburgh has served as Kansas Secretary of State since 1994 and is a former president of the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS), which represents the nation's top state election officials. Under his guidance from 2001-2002, NASS was able to formulate a national election reform agenda that would inform the work of Congress as it created the Help America Vote Act of 2002. In addition to his membership on the executive boards of NASS and the Council of State Governments, Secretary Thornburgh serves on the Federal Election Commission's Clearinghouse Advisory Panel. In Kansas, he has focused on generating higher voter turnout and participation levels and recently received a national award from Kids Voting USA for his work in promoting democracy amongst young people.
