Bonnie Benetato is a second year MBA student at American University’s Kogod School of Business in Washington, DC. She selected the Republic of Iraq for the INITEB student project, Information Technology Landscape in Nations Around the World, because of the profound political and social changes Iraq is presently going through. During 2004, Iraq is emerging from years of ICT isolation to a country that is once again globally connected. The potential for transformation is exciting, yet uncertain.
Bonnie lived and worked abroad in London and Hong Kong for ten years. She is a nurse and worked in London at St. Thomas’ Hospital, where Florence Nightingale started the first school of nursing, and in Hong Kong for the H.K. Red Cross. She has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science of Nursing from the Catholic University of America and is a certified family nurse practitioner. Bonnie worked as a nursing manager and primary care provider at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Washington, DC in the department of geriatrics before commencing her MBA studies, and has continued to work there part-time while studying at Kogod School of Business.
Bonnie Benetato is a 2003-04 John A. Hartford MBA Scholar and received an educational grant from the Building Academic Geriatric Nursing Capacity program. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, International Honor Nursing Society and the D.C. Nurse Practitioner Association, holds a faculty certification at the Bayer Institute for Clinician-Patient Communication, and serves on the Catholic University School of Nursing Alumni Board. Bonnie is currently an intern at UBS Financial Services in Washington, DC where she is gaining experience in finance and retirement planning.
