IT Workforce

Some of the IT related disciplines taught at the university level in Peru are:

  • Electrical / electronics engineering

  • Information systems

  • Systems engineering

  • Telecommunications engineering

The most important universities committed to teaching IT in Peru are:

  • National University of Engineering (UNI)

  • Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP)

  • Ricardo Palma University (URP)

  • University of Lima (UL)

On the other hand, there also are IT related disciplines taught at the technical level, which do not allow students earn a bachelors’ degree.  These IT disciplines may vary from preparatory courses for the Cisco / Microsoft certifications to two-year technical degrees in electronics and telecommunications.  Some of the most prestigious technical schools are:

  • Cibertec

  • National Institute of Research and Training in Telecommunications (INICTEL)

  • TECSUP

Finally, it is hard to figure out the number of people that make up the IT workforce in Peru due to fact that there are not very many and that the last census information does not break down the level of education by occupation.
