ICT Usage by Businesses: E-Commerce and E-Business

On the business level, there is not a great volume of e-commerce which may be due to the lack of infrastructure provided by the wide use of credit cards.

Credit card payments are accepted only at medium- to large-size businesses and only a very small percentage of the population uses it.  Therefore, e-commerce in Peru may seem to be targeted to medium- to high-level socioeconomic classes although there are some web portals that advertise sales over the Internet.  As of 2003, the percentage of businesses using e-commerce in Peru is 0.16% [49].
