About the Author

James Nyika (email), has a Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering from Boston University, Massachusetts and has worked for over 7 years (and continues to do so) in IT consulting companies. He currently currently works as a part time consultant and I spend the bulk of his time pursuing an MBA at the Kogod School of Management, American University(grad 2005). The rest of his time is spent working with the Strathmore Foundation and a Kenyan Affairs working groups in liason with the World Bank. He has a deep interest in the globalization and outsourcing effects and how they affect government, business and individuals.

The reason I chose Botswana, is because of a continuing fascination and admiration for this large nation with a small population. I see Botswana as a shining example for other African nations to follow in its openness to people, technology and development. This course and report were an excellent opportunity to explore the state of information technology and policy in the country, and I hope to someday work in Botswana, contributing to the development of the nation state into an advanced information society.

I hope you enjoy the report and please feel free to email me with any new, ommitted or corrected information so that I can keep this report up to date at all times. Many thanks to Professor Erran Carmel of the Kogod School who was instrumental in making this report a terrific success!
