The majority of ICT financing into the country is through inflowing FDI from investing companies and government allocation of funds through the National Development Plans, for the building of ICT infrastructure. The capital markets in Botswana are extremely small and do not currently play any major role in raising capital for ICT ventures.
Government Spending
The total government budgeted spending in Communications and Technology is about P144 million in the year 2003(14). While this was not the largest share of the budget, it is part of a larger investment from the NDP9 into ICT that will total P1.1Billion by 2009(1).
