Domestic IT Production |
|
With respect to Kuwait, this section is extremely limited in scope. As an IT developing nation, the level of domestic IT production is still not quite adequate and barely self-sustaining. Most work is outsourced to professional services from India or the western world. Almost all local support and IT design and authoring is purely carried out by the local Indian and foreign expatriate groups that have been setup by aspiring first-mover entrepreneurs.
In regards to Hardware, especially on the consumer and commercial sides, PC and LAN configuration and assembly is quite prominent. Most all PCs are built to order in Kuwait by affordable Indian manned, kiosk type one-room “showrooms”. The larger more established business are obviously the ones more capable to cater to a majority commercial clients and businesses (B2B).
Most of the important or significant government or prestigious businesses still obtain their hardware from brand-name dealers locally (e.g. Compaq, HP, IBM etc..)
It is worth mentioning that there is a growing number of local web-design and media art groups which cater to Kuwait businesses online presence attempts. One such office providing excellent services to Kuwait’s more important businesses (B2B) are Khayal Consultants.
