IT Workforce

While most graduates from Kuwait University serve domestic requirements, it appears that most IT persons do not get immersed into the programming and heavy work of such a domain.  Most end up becoming web-designers, while others join the Kuwait Institute for Scientific research (a government agency) and do not end up providing much needed commercial value to the country.

Below are the most recent collected statistics from the local academic provider, at the time of this research, Kuwait University (http://www.kuniv.edu.kw), but however are not currently collected.

Market Size

There are a number of technical private institutions which offer some IT courses and the number of enrollments is rising as the workforce locally deals with the computer revolution.  There is also local MCSE (Microsoft Certification) courses and testing available.

What is interesting is the large Indian expatriates have truly infiltrated the country with higher talent and cheaper rates making it impossible for Kuwaiti nationals to really progress and compete on the this level.   The local Indian population has even set up self-serving portals!
