IT Financing

Because IT companies are still relatively new in Cote d’Ivoire, they have not had much success in obtaining capital from local banks. Local banks take a conservative approach and prefer to finance traditional projects such as agriculture and housing.

As a result, IT companies are financed mainly by private investors and entrepreneurs.

One of the reasons the government granted exclusive rights to Cote d’Ivoire Telecom as France Telecom acquired it was to allow them to make the necessary investments to expand the Ivorian telecom infrastructure and bring it up-to-date. Most of the FDI into telecom then comes from France Telecom and its partners.
