Analysis: National IT Strengths & Weaknesses

Overview: The biggest drawback in the paper came from the gathering of sources as there are not a number of websites that presented me with the information needed. But the Embassy of Bahrain and a number of IT companies back home provided me with the necessary information. The telecommunications, Finance, Banking and the E-Government were the strongest sectors in the paper whereas the IT Geographics, IT labor Force and the Domestic IT market were the biggest weaknesses due to the lack of required information.

ANALYSIS: National IT Strengths and weaknesses
When working on this extensive research paper, there were a number of findings and investigations. The first finding was the fact that due to the limited number of internet and web based companies in the country, it was very hard to find statistical and in depth information for the purposes of this paper.

To solve such a problem, I had to contact a number of Internet companies back home as well as the Embassy of Bahrain here in Washington DC to get facts, statistics about the IT sector in Bahrain and how it is developing. Therefore, one of the biggest weaknesses that was certainly found in the paper had to do with the consistency and the plethora of information that was needed but this problem was overcome with the usage of sources here and back home.

The biggest strength came in the telecommunications sector where there was an abundance of key information that tended to prove very imperative for the paper. When doing a complete and a comprehensive analysis, it was revealed that the biggest strength in terms of the IT sector as of now is found in the Telecommunication Infrastructure and the Banking sector in Bahrain. This is so because the entire economy of the island is centrally based on Financial sectors and the banks that, in the current day are shifting towards a swift implementation of IT technologies into their existing platforms.

A lot of information was also available for this particular sector because the government also plays a key role in the development of the Banking sector and there were a number of very informative sites related to various banks in Bahrain and the government as well.

In addition to that, the Government of Bahrain is also experimenting with the concept of E-Government and this particular aspect of the paper was also a key strength as the information gathered was very helpful in its construction and presentation. Besides the lack of weakness of abundance of information with the IT domestic market, the other weakness was also discovered in the IT Geographics and the IT labor force as I had to rely on sources back home for the purposes of material needed for the study.

From all the information gathered, it is my affirmation that Bahrain does not necessarily lack behind in IT technology and the development of the Internet sector, but has a limited market that is based on advanced and further developing technology. The biggest obstacle to the fast development of the IT sector in the island comes from the fact that there is still a lack of a comprehensive IT labor force that would be considered to be the backbone of the development and the implementation of the Internet, Software and hardware.
