In-Residence Israeli Scholars

The cornerstone of the Center's programming is the presentation of famous Israeli scholars, performers, artists, writers, dancers, etc. to our campus and community. To date, we have had nine "in-residence" Israelis participate as faculty members in providing master classes to our students as well as presentations of their specialty to the campus and community. This model provides the unique opportunity for our students to learn not only from and with these scholars and experts about their specialty, but also about life and living in Israel and how that has shaped their work.

Our in-residence Israeli Faculty has included:

  1. Nahum Tevet, (Department of Art), artist/sculpture, exhibition of his original installation in the Watkins Gallery, Arrangement of Six Units (October 1998)
  2. David Grossman, (Department of Literature), fiction reading and workshop for students in Creative Writing (November 1998)
  3. Batsheva Dance Company (Department of Performing Arts), two members of company taught in dance program and student performance of "Ehad Mi Yodea," from Anaphase (December 1998)

  5. Pedro Berliner (Environmental Studies), Blaustein Institute for Desert Research, taught in environmental studies classes and public lecture, "Agroforestry Systems in Arid Zones," (April 1999)
  6. Yakir Plessner, (Department of Agricultural Economics), Hebrew University, visiting professor (1998-1999)
