The Kogod Alumni Chapter, whose members are active in global business and technology, serves 7,500 alumni in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and more than 15,000 around the world. Membership is automatic for DC metro area alumni.
The Kogod Alumni Chapter participates in a variety of events, professional development seminars, and panel discussions. Members can also help students by providing a practical and current business perspective to the classroom experience, and helping to sharpen their employment skills.
Representing the Kogod Alumni Chapter, the purpose of the Kogod Alumni Board is to support the development and growth of the Kogod community by working as an active liaison between the school, alumni, and the business community.
The board is made up of alumni volunteers in the DC metro area representing different degrees, graduation years, and career disciplines for both undergraduate and graduate business alumni.
The board plans activities for members of the Kogod Alumni Chapter. This group meets on a regular basis, and alumni are welcome to attend a meeting and find out more about the work of the board. The Kogod Alumni Board:
Plans events and activities through out the year, such as its annual Signature Event, which features a prominent business leader or faculty member addressing a current trend in business combined with a reception, informal alumni networking opportunities, and career-related alumni-student networking events
Supports the priorities and new initiatives of the Kogod School of Business by providing input and volunteer resources and linking key academic and career development programs with the business community in the greater DC metro area
Increases awareness of the Kogod School of Business both within Washington, DC, and through out the region by serving as ambassadors and regularly communicating with area alumni.
To that end, it aims to increase participation in the events, programs, and volunteer opportunities it offers. All of the board’s efforts are designed to support the Kogod School of Business and American University as well as the alumni network.
