Robert Sweeney

Director of Outreach

Robert (Bob) Sweeney is a successful businessman, entrepreneur, educational leader and non-profit executive. Over the course of his career, he has built organizations from the ground up, led investor groups in the purchase and disposition of real estate as well as athletic events, and thrived in the business arena in the Greater Washington area.

Erran Carmel

Director of Strategic Initiatives

Professor Carmel teaches Information Technology (I.T.). He researches the globalization of technology work: crowdsourcing, impact sourcing, global software teams, offshore outsourcing. Professor Carmel also leads Business in the Capital as Director of Strategic Initiative to play a larger role in regional businesses and in regional policy.

Nandini Lahiri


Nandini Lahiri is an Associate Professor of the Management Department at the Kogod School of Business. Her research lies at the intersection of strategy, international business and technology.
She studies the implications of geographic and vertical scope of firms in the context of alliances, R&D and innovation.

Rebecca Cooper

Executive in Residence

Washington Business Report’ creator and longtime anchor, Rebecca Cooper now serves as an Executive-­In-­Residence for Strategic Initiatives at Kogod and as a faculty member at the School of Communications at American University. She is also the CEO of two new startups creating thought leadership forums and media programming to find innovative solutions.
