Non-discrimination Policy

Employers must adhere to the American University non-discrimination policy to post a job or internship, participate in the on-campus recruiting program (interviewing/information sessions), attend a Job and Internship Fair, or staff an information table.

American University policy expressly prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, marital status, personal appearance, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, family responsibilities, political affiliation, disability, source of income, place of residence or business, or certain veteran status and any other bases under federal or local laws. Employers recruiting students at American University through the Kogod Center for Career Development should adhere to these policies and practices.

Although we ascribe to the University's policies on nondiscrimination, we are compelled by law (the Solomon Amendment) to allow the U.S. military to recruit on campus, or risk the loss of all federal funding assistance, which includes federal student financial assistance and research grants.
