Jill Klein, Director of the Professional MBA Program
Jill Klein brings more than 25 years of IT and banking management experience to the classroom and currently serves as an Information Technology Executive in Residence at the Kogod School of Business. She teaches at the graduate and undergraduate level, and enjoys developing courses that provide students with “live client” projects and resources. She co-chairs the Kogod Information Technology Executive Council, comprised of 20 corporate and government CIOs. Prior to joining Kogod, Professor Klein worked at JP Morgan, IBM, Riggs Bank, The Advisory Board and managed her own IT consulting firm. Read Full Bio
Wendy Boland, Assistant Professor
Wendy Boland joined the Marketing Department at Kogod in the fall of 2008 after receiving her Ph.D. in Marketing from the University of Arizona. Her research focuses on consumer decision making, behavioral choice, information processing, and marketing and public policy issues dealing with children and adolescent consumers. In addition, she serves as the faculty advisor to the Graduate Marketing Club. Prior to receiving her Ph.D., Boland worked as an auditor for a large public accounting firm. Read Full Bio
Ajay Adhikari, Professor
Professor Adhikari is Chair of the Accounting and Taxation Department and teaches financial and international accounting. He conducts research focused on determinants of international accounting diversity, international accounting harmonization and accounting infrastructure in emerging markets. In 2009-2010, Professor Adhikari served as the Annual Program Chair for the American Accounting Association. In four separate years, 2008, 2007, 2006, and 2004, Adhikari was voted the Kogod Graduate Business Professor of the Year. Read Full Bio
Mark Clark, Associate Professor
Dr. Clark has expertise in high performing teams, leadership, diversity, and strategic human capital. He is an active researcher, holds an endowed Kogod professorship, and his work has been presented at numerous national and international conferences and workshops. Before earning his Ph.D., Clark gained a variety of experiences in public and private sector management, as a program director, trainer, treatment specialist, board member, and consultant. His clients have included some of the largest – and some of the smallest – companies in the world. Read Full Bio
H. Kent Baker, Professor
Professor Baker teaches finance and served as Chair of the Department of Finance and Real Estate for 11 years. He also has extensive industry experience and has provided consulting and training services to more than 100 organizations. He has authored or edited eight books and has published more than 200 articles. Outside of the academic realm, he is a professional musician, who has toured and recorded. Read Full Bio
Emily Lindsay, Executive-in-Residence
Emily Lindsay is Director of the Master of Science in Accounting program. She teaches Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Seminar in Accounting Theory, and Management Accounting. Lindsay has over 20 years experience in an executive position in a global finance function for a multi-billion dollar corporation. In this role, she led significant corporate business process operations related to corporate accounting shared services centers, including employment taxation, payroll, disbursements, banking services, travel-related programs, and stock compensation plans. She has served on two national advisory committees to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and currently serves on the IRS Information Reporting Program Advisory Committee. Read Full Bio
Heather Elms, Associate Professor
Heather Elms is Chair of the International Business Department and Kogod Research Professor. She teaches undergraduate and graduate international business strategy and critical thinking courses. Her research focuses on the relationship between corporate and stakeholder responsibility in the global context, including the role of professionals in those responsibilities. Read Full Bio
Richard Gibson, Associate Professor
Rick Gibson has more than 30 years of teaching and industry experience with complex information systems and management science concepts. Prior to joining Kogod, he spent several years teaching in Europe and Asia. Much of his research is based on his occasional work with the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) and its commercial partners. Professor Gibson is trained by the SEI, a federally funded research and development center, to lead teams conducting appraisals of high maturity integrated systems, software, and service organizations. In 2010, Professor Gibson received the Kogod Graduate Business Association award for Distinguished Professor of the Year. Read Full Bio
Leigh Riddick, Associate Professor
Professor Riddick is currently Chair of the of the American University (AU) Faculty Senate and a Faculty Representative on the AU Board of Trustees. She previously served as Vice-Chair of the Faculty Senate. Her teaching interests include managerial economics and strategy, introductory finance, investments and portfolio management. Her research interests include the home asset bias puzzle, corporate cash policy and international bankruptcy. Read Full Bio
Edward Wasil, Professor
Professor Wasil specializes in network optimization and applications of decision-aiding methods. He has published more than 100 technical articles in a wide variety of academic outlets including Operations Research, European Journal of Operational Research, and Manufacturing and Service Operations Management. In 2005, Professor Wasil and four co-authors received the INFORMS Computing Society Prize for research excellence in the interface between operations research and computer science. In 2002 and 2005, Professor Wasil received the Kogod Graduate Business Association award for Distinguished Professor of the Year. In 2006, he was named the American University Scholar/Teacher of the Year. Read Full Bio
