The Kogod School of Business at American University is situated on a scenic 84-acre campus in a residential region of Washington, DC. Its location provides the comfort and community of an enclosed university campus as well as proximity to the government offices, foreign embassies and research institutes of the nation’s capital. AU is just a short drive or metro ride from downtown and from many of Washington’s most vibrant and diverse neighborhoods.
There are 37 buildings on campus, including the library, computer labs, administration and classroom buildings, residence halls, an interdenominational religious center and a sports center featuring basketball courts, a pool, weight and exercise rooms, and an outdoor track. The campus is built around a grassy quad and surrounded by more woodsy and open outdoor areas where students can study, relax and explore. Campus buildings have been recognized for their fine architecture and many are newly renovated to incorporate state-of-the-art technology into classrooms. The campus also has radio and TV studios, science labs; a large arts center featuring art studios, recital halls, and a theater; and several coffee shops.
AU’s students are curious and active and the campus offers a multitude of opportunities for learning, engaging in discussions and networking. We regularly host guest speakers and our American Forum sponsors journalists and politicians who come to campus to discuss the issues of the day. For those interested in music, theatre, dance and the fine arts, the Katzen Arts Centers hosts frequent performances and art shows. In addition to our indoor sports facility, there are outdoor tennis courts and soccer fields around. The Graduate Business Association sponsors intramural sports for all Kogod students.
