The information in this section of the K-LAB website will help you successfully plan club events, develop your leadership skills, and build your club.
Please review the following information whenever you are planning an event, preparing a budget, electing a new leader, or simply thinking about how you make your club and leadership experience the best they can be. Every Tuesday, the K-LAB sends the BizUndergrad and KSB Bulletin newsletters to 1,200 Kogod undergraduates, 550 graduate students, and faculty and staff. Newsletters include important information from student clubs about events and programs!
We have created an easy-to-use form for your student organization to submit news, announcements, events, etc. A link to the form will be at the bottom of every newsletter. Submit information by noon on Monday for inclusion in the next day's newsletter.
Space Request Policy
Once you have attended the Student Activities Event Planning Workshop, you will be given access to reserve space at AU online. For more information on Student Activities' workshops, visit the "Related Forms" section of this website.
K-LAB has funding available to support a club's event or project and can also help a club receive support from other Kogod Departments. The K-LAB prefers to fund and provide resources for events/projects that are inclusive, collaborative, and innovative. This funding can also support new clubs who are not yet recognized by AU Student Activities.
Note: You must contact K-LAB if you seek funding OR support/expertise from other Kogod Departments, such as Marketing and Communications or the KCCD. Please do not approach other departments directly for assistance.
If funding or support is received, the club must facilitate a follow up meeting with K-LAB after the event. In order to be eligible for K-LAB funding, a club must have followed the AUCC funding application process.
AU Student Activities Funding: American University Club Council
What is AUCC? The AUCC is directly funded by both the undergraduate and graduate Student Activity fee and dedicated to building stronger clubs at American University and supporting them with all the resources and expertise at our disposal. We provide funding to all recognized clubs on campus, resources needed for clubs to engage the student body, and organizational and leadership development to help clubs and their leaders grow.
The AUCC office is available to all club leaders and offers meeting space, mailboxes, copy machine and computer access. In addition to funding, the AUCC is also responsible for mediating issues and concerns between all clubs and associations on campus.
