American University’s Kogod School of Business has received top marks in the “Student Honors for Business Schools” ranking by The Princeton Review and Entrepreneurship Magazine. Kogod’s Global Management MBA Program was named one of the top 15 in the country following Princeton Review’s Best 296 Business Schools: 2009 Edition survey of 19,000 current MBA students.

This is the inaugural year of the student opinion awards, which invite students to complete an 80-question survey about their classroom and campus experience and rate their MBA program in several areas. The Princeton Review’s student opinion awards determine the 15 graduate business schools which are most highly rated by students evaluating their MBA program’s preparation in specific categories. The program rankings are grouped and do not include a further breakdown within the top 15. The six categories include Accounting, Finance, General Management, Global Management, Marketing, and Operations. 

“Blending the strengths of our management and international business faculty is only the beginning of creating a strong global management program,” said Richard M. Durand, Robert and Arlene Kogod Dean of the Kogod School of Business. “Our students are challenged to understand all aspects of business from a global perspective and to implement their ideas through case work, group projects, and cross-class collaborations. Saying we operate in a global economy is not enough, students must experience firsthand the integration required to succeed in the market today.”

Students also ranked Kogod number two for Best Campus Environment. This ranking is based on an assessment of the safety, attractiveness, and location of the school. Kogod students reported the campus to be "low key, friendly, and accessible,” with “a great learning environment.”

The "Student Honors for Business Schools” appears in the April 2009 issue of Entrepreneur Magazine, the nation’s leading publication for and about entrepreneurs. In addition, the lists are also posted at entrepreneur.com.
