Marketing Specialization

The marketing specialization prepares students for successful careers in advertising, product and market research, consumer behavior, distribution strategy, client management, and sports and talent marketing.

Kogod marketing students get real world exposure both in and outside the classroom. In their Advertising and Promotions Campaigns class, students have the opportunity to act as real ad executives in the Citibank/EdVentures Partners program. Their charge is to create an advertising campaign that will increase awareness of the credit education resources that Citibank provides and build Citibankýs reputation as a responsible lender. Students taken on the roles of a real ad agency, use real funds and present their ideas to Citibank executives in New York. Outside the classroom, students have had the opportunity to network with marketing executives from such top companies as America Online, Clear Channel Communications, and NASDAQ.

Most recently, Kogod marketing students have interned or taken full-time positions with Adworks, Clear Channel Communication, E-Site Marketing, Event Concepts, Inc., TMP Worldwide (owned by Monster Worldwide, Inc.), Nordstrom, Palm Restaurant Corporation, the Philadelphia Eagles, the Washington Capitals, and the Washington Wizards.

Curriculum

For the Marketing specialization, students are required to complete 12 credit hours by completing the following:

  • MKTG-301 - Consumer Behavior (3)

  • MKTG-302 - Marketing Research (3)

Plus, two of the following:

  • IBUS-301 - International Marketing (3)

  • MKTG-311 - Internet Marketing (3)

  • MKTG-402 - Marketing Strategy (3)
  • MKTG-411 - Advertising and Marketing Communications Management (3)

  • MKTG-412 - Advertising and Promotion Campaigns (3)

  • MKTG-421 - Brand Management (3)

  • MKTG-431 - Direct Response Marketing (3)

  • MKTG-441 - Sports Marketing Management (3)
