The Kogod School of Business Accounting Department oversees the instruction of all courses pertaining to accounting, taxation, and business law. In addition to their course work, accounting students have the opportunity to engage in real-world financial research and analysis.
Kogod's Washington Initiative service learning course trains students to help low-income families prepare and file their tax returns as part of the IRS's Voluntary Income Tax Assistance Program. Students staff community centers around Washington DC, simultaneously applying their knowledge and providing service. Accounting students also have the opportunity to create and publish equity research reports on small publicly held companies in the Washington metropolitan region that are not routinely covered by financial analysts.
