Donald Williamson, Executive Director
Professor Williamson teaches a number of subjects related to taxation, is director of the Masters of Science in Taxation degree program, and serves as executive director of the Kogod Tax Center.
He has also served as Adjunct Professor of Law at American University's Washington College of Law. Professor Williamson previously served as senior manager for international taxation at the National Tax Practice Office of KPMG in Washington, D.C., and as Professor-in-Residence at KPMG's Washington office. A certified public accountant, Williamson is a frequent lecturer to professional groups throughout the United States, and has held teaching appointments in Europe and China.
He has published over 50 articles in professional and academic journals and was recognized by the Bureau of National Affairs as its outstanding author for 2007.
David Kautter, Managing Director
David Kautter is executive-in-residence in the Department of Accounting and Taxation. He joins Kogod following a distinguished career as a partner at Ernst & Young LLP, where he held a number of key technical and leadership roles spanning over three decades.
Most recently, Kautter served as Ernst & Young's Director of National Tax, the chief operating executive for the firm's national tax practices. He was also responsible for maintaining the firm's relationships with tax writing committees and staff on Capitol Hill, in the U.S. Treasury Department, the Internal Revenue Service National Office, law firms, other major accounting firms' tax practices and the media. Kautter also served as Legislative Counsel to U.S. Senator John C. Danforth.
Kautter has written extensively on tax law, policy and compliance issues, authoring articles in major journals including the Journal of Accountancy and the Tax Advisor.
Robert Midler, Fellow
Robert Midler became a Fellow at Kogod Tax Center after retiring from Ernst & Young in 2011 as a director. He joined E&Y's National Tax Department in 1986 where he was associated at different points in his career with both the tax legislative/regulatory and communications groups.
At Kogod Tax Center, he works on a variety of projects, including surveys, alumni communications and the Breakfast Series program. Bob graduated from Miami University (B.A.) and Cleveland-Marshall College of Law (J.D.). He is a member of the Ohio and District of Columbia Bars.
Tom Ochsenschlager, Fellow
Tom Ochsenschlager became a Fellow at Kogod Tax Center in 2011 after retiring from the AICPA in May 2010. He joined the AICPA in 2004 as the Vice President of Taxation.
Currently, he is an adjunct professor at George Washington University's graduate business school teaching tax. Before his position as the VP of Taxation at the AICPA, Tom was also a Partner in the National Tax Office for Grant Thornton and a Principal at Arthur Young & Company.
Tom graduated from Wabash College (B.A), Amos Tuck School of Business (M.B.A), University of Virginia (J.D.), and Georgetown University (M.L.T.). He is a member of the AICPA, Assistant Treasurer at the American Tax Policy Institute, and a Board Member at Community Tax Aid.
