Information Systems and Technology Specialization

The Information Systems and Technology (IST) specialization is designed for those students interested in combining their business education with the evolving field of information technology. Through the extensive application of coursework, students learn to design, construct, and maintain successful systems that enable greater connectivity and competition among businesses and organizations worldwide.

Because it integrates many professional disciplines, the IST specialization provides business students with a tremendous amount of career flexibility. Students graduate with an outstanding foundation and are prepared to excel in many areas of the increasingly competitive and growing field of technology.

Most recently, IST students have interned or taken full-time positions with Black & Decker, FDIC, IBM, Intelsat, and the U.S. Telecommunications Training Institute.

Curriculum

For the Information Systems and Technology specialization, students are required to complete 12 credit hours, as follows:

  • ITEC-455 - Introduction to Systems Analysis (3)

  • ITEC-470 - Databases, Data Mining and Knowledge Management (3)

6 credit hours from the following:

  • ITEC-333 - Topics in Information Technology (3)

  • ITEC-334 - Online Application Development (3) - formerly known as: Computer Programming in the Web Era

  • ITEC-350 Digital Leadership and Strategy (3)

  • ITEC-454 - Fundamentals of Electronic Commerce (3)
