Karen Dee Michalowicz Collection

Karen Dee Michalowicz (1942-2006) was the Chair of the Upper School Mathematics Department at the Langley School in McLean, VA. Her interests included the history of mathematics and in particular Benjamin Banneker and women mathematicians and educators. Over the years, she collected math texts and text books which she regularly used in the classroom. Her collection (1553- 2003) contains works of algebra, arithmetic, and geometry and features several examples of ciphering books. Authors represented include: Daniel Adams, Warren Colburn, Charles Davies, John H. French, Benjamin Greenleaf, Joseph Ray, George Wentworth, and Emerson White.

  • Sabino, Georgio, Fabularum Ovidii interpretatio tradita in Academia Regiomontanus, Wittemburg: Petrus Seitz (1559)
