Promoting events in the library

We offer the following options for promoting campus events:

  • Posting official, University-sponsored event fliers in our lobby case
  • Posting slides on our electronic signboards
  • Posting event information on our Facebook and Twitter pages
  • Posting the event information on the Libary intranet (for Library employees)

Event hosts must provide sign text and/or slides. We reserve the right to edit copy. Because of limited space, we can only offer promotion for individual events, not event series.

Public posting boards for unofficial/non-University-sponsored events are available in the Lower Level stairwell lobby and the Mud Box. Limit one sign per event per board.

Hosting events in the library

We have a number of large and small conference rooms, classrooms, and reception areas available. Room availability is based on Library hours, space needs for Library instruction, and use by Library-sponsored events. Library spaces are subject to blackout dates during high-volume study periods.

If you are a campus group or department that wishes to use library space for your meeting or event, please have your department subscheduler submit a space request via 25Live Our subscheduler will determine if the room is available and appropriate for the event. If the reservation is accepted, our subscheduler will work with the group to ensure all needs are met for the event. Large events may be subject to facility manager or event manager fees.

If you are a non-campus group and wish to use the library, please be aware that this usage is subject to room rental, event manager, and Audio Visual fees. Please contact the Library Programming Coordinator to discuss event specifics and determine the suitability and availability of the room. For information about rental rates, click here.

In order to ensure correct set-up, audio visual support must be arranged separately for all internal and external reservations. Please contact Audio Visual Services directly at 202-885-2296 or visit their webpage.

Co-sponsoring events with the Library

We can provide staff, resources, or logistical support for co-sponsored events. Co-sponsored events may take place in the Library or elsewhere on campus. More details on information on submitting co-sponsorship requests can be found here.
