SlideShare

SlideShare is a website that allows users to upload PowerPoint and Keynote programs along with Word and PDF documents and share them as a link.

Add a SlideShare Presentation

Before you add your presentation to Blackboard, you need to first upload your PowerPoint or Keynote presentation to SlideShare.

  • At www.slideshare.net signup for an account.
  • Next, click the Upload button at the top of the page.
  • Click Browse and select files and find where your presentation is located on your computer.
  • SlideShare will then upload and convert your presentation, you can name and categorize your presentation while it processes, then click Save. Note: SlideShare presentations will not have any animations or sound included.
Once your SlideShare presentation is uploaded you can open a new window and go to your Blackboard site to link to the presentation.
  • Go to a content area and hover over Build Content then under Mashups click SlideShare presentation.
  • On the next page under Search Type select Specific Presentation (URL).
  • Go back to SlideShare and copy the URL for your presentation (e.g. http://www.slideshare.net/NixonEE/clicking-in)
  • Next, paste the URL of your presentation into the search box and click Go.
  • When your presentation appears in the search window, click Select under the preview window, then Submit on the next page.
You and your students can now look through your presentation in a window rather than having to download your PowerPoint or Keynote presentation before viewing it.

RSS Feeds

RSS Feeds are streams of article headlines from news sources, websites and blogs that are condensed into lists of links to the full text of the articles. You can get RSS Feeds from lots of places on the internet, just look for the little orange RSS icon on your favorite media site.
