Woods-Brown Amphitheatre

Main Campus
Outdoor Space
Nestled in the north side of campus, the amphitheatre serves many purposes on campus, from convocation site to a quiet spot to study on a warm sunny day. It is a gathering place for American University to host events, concerts, movies, and much more. Surrounding the amphitheatre are some of the beautiful trees that helped AU’s campus gain arboretum status in 2002, including such primeval trees as the dawn redwood, known only from Mesozoic fossils until the discovery of a surviving patch in China, and the gingko, whose pedigree dates back 270 million years.
