Middle East Studies Calendar
The Annual IMI Conference on Intercultural Relations is an interdisciplinary forum which convenes the field's top scholars, educators, and practitioners in the nation's capital for two days of professional development and exchange of best practices. The conference offers varied, interactive experiences for individuals concerned with advancing intercultural relations as well networking opportunities with decision-makers from a wide range of U.S. and international institutions including academia, nongovernmental organizations, private companies, government, and military. Key thematic tracks addressed in this year's conference will examine intercultural issues in education, exchanges, and training; media; diplomacy; business and the workplace; and in healthcare.
Keynote speakers will include:
Rosiland Jordan, Correspondent, Al Jazeera English
Ms. Jordan joined Al Jazeera English in 2008 and covers the U.S. State and Defense Departments. Prior to Al Jazeera, she covered the White House for NBC News and Tribune Broadcasting. Ms. Jordan was nominated for an Emmy in 2005 for her work on NBC's 2004 presidential election night coverage. She also won a regional Associated Press award for her reporting on the U.S. immigration debate for a public radio station in 2007.
Moisés Naím, Senior Associate, International Economics Program, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace
Dr. Naím is an international renowned columnist and commentator on globalization, international politics and economics whose columns are published by Spain's El País, Italy's La Republica, Brazil's Folha de Sao Paulo, and over forty leading newspapers worldwide. He is the author of over ten books, including most recently, "The End of Power," which illuminates the struggle between once-dominant mega-players and new micro-powers challenging them in every field of human endeavor.
