| Dear
AU Alum-
Fifteen
years ago, on a rainy Chicago night in April (in my first volunteer experience
for the university), I attended a college night at my high school and
got the biggest kick out of extolling the virtues of AU to eager high
school juniors. I couldn't get enough. Since then, I have attended three
dozen college nights, freshman summer send-offs, and interviews. I was
later asked to start the Chicago chapter of the AU Alumni Association,
and before I knew it I was secretary, vice president, and then president
of the Alumni Board. I still haven't had enough of being involved with
AU.
Now I have just days left in my term as president, and I think of all
of those dedicated volunteers who made the time and commitment to give
back to the school that gave us all so much. One of those people is Carey
Earle, SOC/BA ’88,
currently the vice president of the board, who will become the new president
as of September 1. As those who know Carey already know, she is a dynamic
lady with a passion for AU which is unparalleled. I know Carey will do
a fabulous job as president.
Thank
you for your friendship and your commitment of time, money, and talent
to AU. And don't worry, I’ll still be at my high school next April,
rain or shine.
Best,
Don
