Maryland Alumni Driving More Stylishly in 2004new AU license plate

Alumni who live in Maryland are celebrating their alma mater in a brand new way in 2004. This month, Maryland drivers started hitting the road bearing new AU license plates, and the AU community is very excited about it.

“It’s a great way to get promote the school. We’ve received a number of requests for the plate, and we’re really happy to finally have it produced,” said Tracey Vranich, senior director of alumni programs and annual campaigns at AU.

Alumni agree it’s a great way to show pride for their school. “I got my plate and love it! I haven't put it on yet; I'm still so busy showing it off to all my friends and co-workers,” said Maureen Eschbacher, CAS/BA ’67.

You don’t have to be an alum to get a Maryland AU license plate – AU students, faculty, and staff who live in Maryland are also welcome to apply for the new plate.

Plans for license plates in other states are also being considered, however, the rules in each state vary as to how many people must petition to get a special plate, so requests are being taken on a case-by-case basis.
