New Year Marks Great Time to Network, Re-Energize Career Plans

The New Year marks a great time to network and re-energize your career plans, whether it means finding the job you want, getting the promotion you deserve, or simply making new contacts so you always know who to call.

You may not have realized it, but more than 10,000 AU alumni and current students are registered on AU's On-Line Community (OLC). As a registered user of the OLC, you have access to the following helpful, career-building features:

  • On-Line Directory -- allows AU alumni to stay in touch with each other by finding alumni in any city/country, college, degree, major, or class year
  • Career Network -- helps job-seeking alumni and current students to find you when you complete the NETWORKING section of the directory. By indicating how you would like to be contacted (home phone, work phone, e-mail, etc.), and volunteering to give informal career advice and information about your career field
  • Permanent e-mail address -- allows you to redirect any e-mail address to an AU address, so you only have to update one address when you change e-mails and your contacts can always find you
  • Yellow pages – gives you the chance to list your business and let AU alumni know who to call when they need what you’ve got!

To update your profile, or register as a new user, visit: http://www.alumni.american.edu and go to the On-Line Community button.

Access to the On-Line Community is a joint effort between the Career Center and Alumni Programs. For more information about the On-Line Community, please contact Laura Swanstrom Reece at 202-885-5921 or lauras@american.edu.
