Greenberg Theatre Announces Spring Season

AU "Much Ado" posterEven if you’ve seen Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing” before, you won’t want to miss the innovative hip-hop version that AU students will put on as part of their new spring lineup.

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Director Caleen Jennings chose the show for its value as a great tale about the battle of the sexes.

Choreographed by Cara Gabriel, with set design by James Kronzer, and lighting design by Emily Becher, tickets are on sale now for upcoming shows at the Harold and Sylvia Greenberg Theatre at 4200 Wisconsin Avenue:

  • January 23 at 8 pm, open dress rehearsal
  • February 5, 6, 7 at 8 p.m
  • February 7 at 2 p.m.
  • February 12, 13, 14 at 8 p.m.

Buy your tickets now: $8 for the AU community (including alumni) and $15 for the general public.

If Shakespeare’s not your thing, perhaps a piano concert by AU Emeritus Professor of Music Alan Mandel will bring you a toe-tapping smile. Sponsored by the Department of Performing Arts and the University Honors Program, the February 9 performance will celebrate the work of Beethoven. It’s at 7:30 p.m. in the Kay Spiritual Life Center on campus, and tickets are $5, available at the door.

And mark your calendar for the play within a play, “Kiss Me Kate,” March 24 to 27, also at the Greenberg Theatre.

Visit the Department of Performing Arts Web site for more information.
