CAS Alumni Chapter Announces Winners of First Photo Contest

The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Alumni Chapter recently announced the winners of its first chapter-sponsored photo contest.

The award winners are Donald Sturgis CAS/BA ’53 for his photograph depicting “Faces at AU”; Raedith Roberts CAS/MA ’97 for her photo capturing “Places of Wonder at AU”; and Patricia Meagher, CAS/BA ’81 for her photo illustrating“Culture and D.C.”

“We got a lot of great photos entered into the contest and it was really tough to choose the winners,” said Christal M. Cherry, assistant director of development for CAS and organizer of the event.

Each category had distinct descriptions of what the photographs should represent. “Faces at AU” asked for photos that showed images of AU students, faculty, and/or staff, while “Places of Wonder at AU” asked for pictures that depicted the tremendous change on campus. Finally “Culture and D.C.” asked for photos that captured the sites and nuances of the D.C. area.

Each winner received $50 and their winning photographs are posted on the CAS Alumni Web site.
