New
Alumni Chapters in Paris, Denver, and Panama Formed
More than 30 AU alumni gathered earlier this week in Paris for a special Thanksgiving celebration hosted by U.S. Ambassador to France, Howard Leach. The AU alums joined nearly 300 other alumni from U.S.-based universities, including Cornell, MIT, Harvard, Stanford, and the Columbia University Business School for the special event at the France-Ameriques club in Paris (pictured).
This gathering by AU alumni in Paris marked the perfect time to officially announce the launch of the AU Paris alumni chapter - one of three new alumni chapters. Led by Edouard Gueudet, WCL/LLM '02, and Ron Oman, SIS/MA 02, the chapter will serve close to 300 alumni across France.
Representatives from AU’s Alumni Programs also met with London alumni during their trip. The London chapter, established several years ago, needed a bit of “revitalizing,” says associate director of Alumni Programs, Mary Skinner, noting how much she enjoyed meeting the group of London-area alumni.
New chapters were also launched
this fall in Denver and Panama. Denver chapter leader, Sarah Moss, SOC/BA '01, hopes to connect with the more than 400 alumni in the mile-high city. While there are only about 80 alumni in Panama, these Eagles - led by Roberto Pascual, KSB/BSBA '02 - are no less enthusiastic in forming a group of their own. Details on these and the other AU alumni chapters worldwide can be found at: http://alumni.american.edu.
Skinner expects the three new alumni chapters to
attract alumni on several levels. “As always, we’d like the
chapters to engage alumni several times a year, not only through
networking events, but community service and fundraising as well,” she says. “We’re
always looking to develop new chapter programs and interested
in alums looking to reconnect with AU,” Skinner says.
