September 2004 What
a difference a year makes. This month marks the one-year anniversary
of this Alumni Update e-newsletter. For the last
12 months, a number of us in University Relations (recently
renamed to include University Publications, but still including
the Alumni Programs and Development offices) have been putting
our heads together and trying to come up with an interesting
assortment of news and events to tell you about, in the hopes
of making you feel more connected to campus.
We've
given you the lowdown on dozens of upcoming events in cities
across the country; AU's latest (and continually rising) national
rankings; the latest campus happenings; and some of the accomplishments
of faculty, students, and alumni of which we are so proud.
We know there are many more stories yet to be told!
I
hope you've enjoyed receiving this e-newsletter for the last
year. Please feel free to drop me a note and let me know what
you like (or dislike) about it and if there's anything in
particular you'd like to see us cover in the year ahead. Of
course, we can't get to all 75,000+ of our alumni stories
at once. But we'll sure try to hit the highlights.
All
the best-
-Melissa Reichley
Editor, Alumni Update
P.S. The animals are back! Pandas that is. Just as the D.C.
Commission on the Arts and Humanities loaned AU its donkey
and elephant statues two years ago before auctioning them
off, they've let us borrow their latest "Pandamania"
project this fall for display and enjoyment by all: more than
90 pandas decorated by artists from all over the country will
be on campus through October 9. |
