AU to Host Job and Internship Fair – For Alumni Seeking and Offering Jobs

AU job fairWhether you’re looking for a change with a new job or you’re looking for talent to fill one or more positions at your firm, the upcoming AU Job and Internship Fair could be just what the vocation doctor ordered.

Nearly 100 employers are expected to be on hand for discussion about the positions their firms seek to fill on Thursday, October 7, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., in Bender Arena.

“Last year, we had 170 employers recruiting at our fall and spring fairs, and almost 1,000 students and alumni attendees each fair,” says Pat Oltmann, AU alumni career programs coordinator. “This year, we hope to have even more.”

If your firm has openings you’d like to recruit AU students or alumni for, register at:
http://www.american.edu/careercenter/jobfair.html

If you are a job seeker, register by logging on to your AU CareerWeb account at: http://www.american.edu/careercenter. Once you’re logged in, choose "Events" to register for the fair. You can then research employers recruiting at the fair and find out what job opportunities are waiting for you. If you don’t have an account, visit the Career Center’s home page and request one at: http://american.edu/careercenter. (Whether you are a student or an alum, you must have a résumé in your AU CareerWeb account to register for the fair.)

Remember: Bring plenty of résumés and dress for success! And if you want to make your résumé stand out to employers, plan on attending one of the résumé critique sessions available before the fair. Sessions will be held on Oct. 5, 5 to 7 p.m., and Oct. 6, 12 to 2 p.m. and 5 to 7:30 p.m. in the Mary Graydon Center lobby.

More than 2,000 students and 200 alumni were seen in individual appointments with Career Center advisors last year, covering resume review, job search strategies, career changes, and more. Plus, at least 500 alumni took part in panels and networking receptions to benefit students, and close to 50 alumni recruited at job fairs throughout the year.
