Kogod Dean Resigns, New Acting Dean Named

William DeLoneAfter six years as dean of the Kogod School of Business, Myron Roomkin announced in August his plans to step down from his post and take a new position at Case Western Reserve University's Weatherhead School of Business in Ohio. Under Roomkin's leadership, the Kogod School earned national rankings for its undergraduate and MBA programs. Dean Roomkin also led in the school’s successful reaccreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

Professor William DeLone has been named acting dean of the school. DeLone, who’s been an AU faculty member for nearly 20 years, will assume the position on Nov. 1.

In order to ensure a smooth and effective transition, DeLone began work on Sept. 1 in close collaboration with Dean Roomkin.

“We will move to initiate the search for a permanent successor to Dean Roomkin shortly,” added Kerwin. “During this process and throughout the coming year we can proceed confident in the knowledge that the management of Kogod will be in capable hands.”

DeLone, who joined AU in 1986 and has since received awards in nearly every important area of faculty work, created and cochaired Kogod’s Management of Global Information Technology (MoGIT) program. He currently directs the Center for Information Technology and the Global Economy and was selected this year to serve as vice chair of the International Conference on Information Systems. DeLone—who, in 1998 received AU’s Faculty-Administrator award—has also served as Kogod’s associate dean of graduate programs.

DeLone holds a bachelor’s degree from Villanova University, a master’s from Carnegie-Mellon University and a PhD from the University of California at Los Angeles.
