Come Experience the New Katzen Arts Center over Cocktails and Conversation

Alumni Weekend, October 21-23, is only a few weeks away, so if you haven't already registered for Cocktails and Conversation, the Family Picnic in the amphitheatre, or any of the weekend's many other special events, now's the time.

"We purposely planned this year's feature event, Cocktails and Conversation, in the new Katzen Arts Center so alums could come see the building for themselves," says Vanessa Yost, director of Alumni Programs. Hundreds of alumni attended the Saturday night gala in the last few years when it was held downtown at the Grand Hyatt Washington.

"With the opening of the new Katzen Arts Center, we expect this year to break all attendance records," says Alumni Board President Carey Earle, SOC/BA '88. "Come back and see your alma mater rising proudly on Ward Circle. Artemus says: 'Register!'"

Libby York '66"I look forward to this event every year," adds Steve Schapiro, SPA/BA '94, SOC/MA '00. "It continues to get better every year, and I'm sure this year will be no exception with it being held in the Katzen."

The Capitol StepsIn addition to having the opportunity to wander through the stunning gallery spaces of the museum and sample from a wide variety of hors d'oeuvres and drinks, alumni and guests will be treated to entertainment by alumna jazz vocalist Libby York, SPA/BA ’66, and can choose from one of two shows by D.C.'s own Capitol Steps.

Between the shows, Alumni Board President Earle will present Lonnie Bunch, CAS/BA '74, CAS/MA '76, with the 2005 Alumni Achievement Award.

This is the event of the weekend. Business attire. Classes of 1995–2005, $25; All others, $40. Admission to the Capitol Steps performance is limited to the first 400 individuals who RSVP.
