Looking for Alumni Volunteers
If
your New Year's resolution was to get more involved with volunteer opportunities,
American University's Office of Admissions wants you!
The admissions staff will begin traveling across the country this spring
to recruit prospective students for fall 2006, and they are looking for
dedicated alumni to help with recruiting new Eagles. Here are some volunteer
opportunties currently available:
Admissions Volunteer Program
AU is always looking for Alumni Volunteers to help with recruitment activities.
Interested alumni receive a training manual to help familiarize them with
the application process in order to answer students' questions.
College Fairs
AU relies on alumni volunteers to attend college fairs that admissions
staff members cannot cover. The college fairs generally take place in
the evening, although some are during the day and on weekends. This is
a great way to promote AU and for you to tell prospective students about
the university and your experiences.
Interviews
The Office of Admissions receives many requests for local interviews,
especially from students who are unable to travel to campus. They would
like to be able to meet more of these requests by connecting prospective
students with admissions volunteers in their local area. Interviews are
a great opportunity for students to speak personally with an AU alumnus
and decide if there is a good fit between the student and AU. Interviews
with alumni are usually scheduled in a convenient meeting place, such
as a coffee shop.
E-mail-athon
Each year AU admissions volunteers reach out to admitted students during
the spring by sending them a congratulatory e-mail and offering to answer
any questions. This personal contact is truly valuable to our admitted
students and may help them decide that AU is the best match for their
academic and personal interests.
Please
contact Rebecca Brown at 202-885-6056
if you are interested in getting involved.
