Alumni
Weekend has come and gone, and this year has to go down in the books
as one of the best! The variety of events, number of alums who returned
to AU, and general feeling of a beautiful fall weekend in Washington
made it a weekend not to be missed. If
you did happen to miss it – let this be the last time! It’s
not too early to set aside the weekend of October 26-28, 2007 and
make plans now to attend. You’ll catch up with old friends,
make some business contacts, and if nothing else, simply enjoy yourself.
We
were proud to pay tribute to alumni Tony
Perkins '81 and Neal
Sharma '98 at the “Movers and Shakers” event for
their efforts on behalf of AU and their work throughout their communities.
Their stories are inspiring – and both aptly represent the
talents of AU alumni. We’re a broad, diverse, and impressive
group. Meeting and reconnecting with so many extraordinary alumni
over the weekend made me more proud than ever to be an “Eagle.”
Separate
from Alumni Weekend, and perhaps of particular interest, the university
has kicked off its presidential
search. A Web
site dedicated to this topic has been created as part of the
Board of Trustees site, and updates and information will be posted
on a regular basis. In addition, a dedicated
e-mail address has been established for individuals who wish
to nominate candidates for the position or provide comments or feedback
about the search.
Finally,
don’t feel you need to wait a whole year before you come back
to campus to visit. Several alumni have already taken me up on my
offer from last month to contact me and take a walk around campus,
and the offer stands. I’d love to meet you and get your help
in making AU the best it can be.
Sincerely,
Brian
