With
all of Washington abuzz about the upcoming elections, it’s
only fitting that the AU Alumni Board held its own recent elections.
Carey Earle wrapped up her two-year tenure as our president, and
I'd like to thank her for her tireless dedication and commitment
to AU. She has left big shoes to fill, and I am honored to venture
toward running the Alumni Board at the pace she set.
Assisting
me in my efforts on the Alumni Board are several other dedicated
AU alums: Tim Bennett '69, Jonah Gitlitz '55, Margo Herron '85,
'03, Mike Panetta '93, '94, Steve Schapiro '94, '00, Steve Shapiro
'69, and Sandra Walter '86 as at-large board members. In addition,
Erin Fuller '93, '94 is our new VP. Erin has served as an at-large
member of the Alumni Board since May 2004, on her Reunion Class
Committee, and as president of the SPA Alumni Chapter. In everyday
life, she’s executive director of the National Association
of Women Business Owners; she’s married to Mike Leurdijk '94;
and they have an 18-month-old son, Aidan. (AU class of 2026?)
We
begin the year with a solid and committed team. Added to that is
our strategic plan designed to bring more AU alums back to campus
and onto the Alumni Board -- all committed to making AU the best
institution it can be.
At this point, the only thing missing is you. We need your help.
Over the next year we want to make sure you have a voice in the
future of your school. We’re going to be raising money, raising
school spirit, and using our expertise gained since graduation to
help inspire the AU students of today. Call or e-mail
me any time and let’s put your expertise to work in building
our university.
Sincerely,
Brian
Keane, SPA/BA
'89
P.S.
If you haven’t been to campus in a while, call me and let’s
take a walk around. You won’t believe how the campus has grown
and flourished since we graduated. |
