Meet the Peer Tutors

ASAC peer tutors are AU students who have taken the class(es) they support, earned an A or A-, and have been recommended by AU faculty. They are also trained in tutoring techniques, learning styles, student needs assessment, as well as in supporting international students and students with different abilities.

Claire is a senior at AU, double majoring in International Studies and Computational Science. She is from Chicago and is involved in Club Cross Country at AU. In her spare time, she enjoys running, reading, biking, and hanging out with friends in the city. Claire tutors most math classes up to MATH-313, so stop by and review those difficult concepts!

I am originally from a small town in northern New Jersey. At American University, I received my degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Accounting and Finance. Currently I am getting my Masters in Accounting and plan on starting my full-time career with an accounting firm in January 2017. My interests and hobbies include sports and just relaxing with friends. I have always enjoyed tutoring, and I look forward to working with you.

Hello! My name is Kate Ullman. I am a junior majoring in International Studies and minoring in Economics. I've taken economics classes here at AU with Professor Goode, and Professor Callahan as well as AP Economics in my high school. I'm from Silver Spring, Maryland. My current obsession is collecting teas, and I'll welcome any suggestions for new flavors. I can't wait to work with you this semester!

I am originally from Los Angeles, and I'm a senior majoring in Accounting and minoring in Marketing, hoping to eventually get my Master's in either Accounting or Tax. I have been tutoring for two years now and I have also been a Supplemental Instruction Leader for Managerial Accounting. I really love the subjects I tutor, and I hope I can help make them a bit more fun.

Chris was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he enjoyed hiking, running, and eating way too much chili. He came to AU as an Economics major, and later added a second major in International Studies, though his academic interests cover a wide array of topics in the social science realm. Now in his sophomore year, Chris can often be found looking for new restaurants to try, or new places to visit in the DC area. He also truly enjoys sharing his love for learning and is always happy to help students with any issues they may have in Economics or World Politics classes.

A small town kid from Southwestern Pennsylvania, Dan is a junior at American University pursuing a double major in International Studies and Economics. He absolutely loves anything that involves economics, from supply and demand trends to the Tragedy of the Commons. In his spare time, Dan enjoys running, hiking, dancing, and getting cupcakes down in Georgetown. Stop in and learn some economic theory with Dan, he looks forward to working with you!

A DC local, Laura is majoring in Business Administration with a specialization in Accounting. She enjoys many other topics, like economics, music and math, and is ready to help others with whatever they need. Some other passions of hers include cars, traveling and collecting key chains or medallions from the different places she discovers. She is ready to help in the library and tutoring lab when you need it!

Maria is a Sophomore at American University majoring in International Studies. She is originally from Thessaloniki, Greece. As well as having a passion for global affairs she has a knack for Mathematics, especially in its applications to other fields of study and in everyday life. She hopes to make Applied Calculus more accessible and less confusing to everybody. Maria is also a Supplemental Instruction Leader for this class.

I was born in Singapore, but grew up in South Florida. I'm currently a Finance major, with a minor in Economics. I also work at the fitness centers on campus and have worked as a TA for Business 1.0. I'm looking forward to working with ASAC to help you.

Originally from Boise, Idaho, I am a sophomore at American University majoring in Accounting. Beyond academic interests, I also enjoy debating as part of American University's Debate Society and playing on AU's Women's Rugby Team. In my spare time, I love to explore DC and watch Netflix. I can't wait to work with you and chat about Accounting and Economics!

Olivia is from Mahwah, a small town in northern New Jersey, right outside New York City. She is pursuing a degree in Biology, here at American, and is on the pre-medical tract. Her goal is to attend medical school and become a neonatologist. She enjoys reading and sipping a dirty chai at Tryst in Adams Morgan. Her favorite class at American is Organic Chemistry and she would love to help you succeed in all your biology and chemistry classes!

An international student from Madrid, Spain, Sergio is currently a sophomore at American University majoring in mathematics and minoring in dance. He has always been passionate about math, and he hopes he can instill some of that passion in his students. In his free time, you can find Sergio at rehearsal in the dance studio at AU or simply reading a book or relaxing with friends. Sergio has always enjoyed tutoring, so come in with any doubts that you have, and he will help you work through them!
