-
Guided study meeting
In order for these hours to count toward
the weekly total, a student-athlete must turn in the alternative study
hall sheet with a tutor/professor/SI leader's signature before 12:00
p.m. on Monday.
When traveling with the team, students may
complete study hall hours under a coach's supervision. The coach must
notify the ASP office upon returning to campus.
Study hall hours may be completed at the
ASP office between 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. (Monday-Friday) provided space
is available and an ASP staff member is on site to monitor.
TALONS
Thinking and Learning Opportunities for New Student-Athletes
TALONS is a requirement for all first-year and transfer student-athletes.
If a student has a class conflict, they are responsible for letting
the ASP office know as soon as possible. TALONS will be held in Butler
Board Room at 7:00 p.m. Check back here for the schedule.
Tutoring
If you need assistance with the content of a course,
you can request a tutor from the ASP office. The ASP staff will provide
the name and contact information of a peer tutor with knowledge of that
course. Since it can be harder to find tutors in some subject areas,
please contact the office as soon as you feel you might need assistance.
To ensure timely payment, tutors should hand in their payment forms
to Bender 219, the ASP office.

Supplemental
Instruction
Supplemental
Instruction (SI) is designed to make effective use of peer learning.
Designed to promote collaborative learning, SI is an interactive
program facilitated by a student who has previously done well in the
class. SI review sessions focus on both course content and study strategies.
The sessions are student-run and student-driven and the names of participants
are kept confidential. You get involved in your own learning and collaborate
on strategies that work for the course material.
