NASPA Webinar: The State of the African-American Professional (Updated 1/31/14)
This webinar will explore the experience of African-American professionals across the nation. Of central focus to this webinar conversation will be the paradox of an increase in terminal degree recipients who identify as African-American while the existing lack of representative African-American leaders at different levels within student affairs (Jackson, 2003). The webinar moderator will offer insights regarding emerging trends and demographic details to provide context for participants. The expert panelists will provide context based on their various institutional positions and depth of experience in navigating the American higher education system as an African-American professional. In particular, each panelist will offer reflections and words of advice for aspiring African-American professionals and share their thoughts on salient issues impacting the community. This webinar seeks to bring together senior-level administrators to reflect on their experiences in higher education. Attendees will range from all levels of higher education including entry-level professionals through senior managers.
