The Office of the Dean of Students recognizes the important role that parents play in their students' lives, and encourages parents to be active participants in the American University community. In addition to participating in campus programs and attending events such as Family Weekend, parents are encouraged to become actively involved in the Parents Leadership Council and to volunteer their time and talents by hosting a summer send-off event or volunteering in Admissions or the Career Center.

Family Weekend!
By sharing social and academic activities, you will experience the same excitement, challenges, and discoveries your student encounters in college. You may even make some discoveries of your own! Share some old memories and make some new ones during Family Weekend, October 19-21, 2012.
Attend Classes without Quizzes, take a historical tour of the neighborhood surrounding campus, eat lunch in the Terrace Dining Room. By experiencing AU’s campus life first-hand, your conversations with your student will be more satisfying and interactive.
