Advisory Board
The GLBTA Resource Center Advisory Board upholds the mission of the Center and assists in the development and promotion of activities and programs. The Advisory Board includes individuals from the faculty, professional staff,graduate and undergraduate student populations, as well as members of the DC Metro community. The GLBTA Resource Center Director acts as the Board Convener. The roles and responsibilities of the Advisory Board members include, but are not limited to:
- Networking/acting as liaison with campus and community groups;
- Acting as advocates for the GLBT community;
- Projecting priorities and goals for the GLBTA Resource Center;
- Developing a strategic plan for the GLTBA Resource Center;
- Evaluating the GLBTA Resource Center’s effectiveness in meeting its mission and goals;
- Participating in the selection of the GLBTA Resource Center Director and other staff.
Membership
The Board consists of seventeen (17) members (not including the GLBTA Resource Center Director).
Five (5) members of the Board are appointed based on their positions. These positions are:- The President of the Lambda Graduate Student Association;
- The Executive Director of Queers and Allies;
- The President of Queer People of Color;
- The President of Lambda Law Society;
- The Director of the Women and Gender Studies Department
There will be five (5) members of the Board appointed from departments the Center commonly collaborates with. Such departments include:
- Human Resources Department
- Office of Multicultural Affairs
- International Student and Scholar Services
- Student Counseling Center
- Housing and Dining Programs
- Public Safety
- Bender Library
There will be five (5) "at-large” board members who will be selected by current Board members according to the following guidelines:

“At-large” members will be selected in a manner that will foster representation on the Board from a variety of areas at AU and in the DC Metro community;
- Three of the “at-large” members will be faculty;

In all appointments, preference will be given to those whose experience, perspective, areas of expertise, and commitment to GLBT issues and educational equity are consistent with the Center’s Mission Statement.
The two remaining members of the board will be for GLTBA Resource Center staff to be determined by the Director of the center.
