About Us
Welcome to the GLBTA Resource Center!
Established in 1994 under a volunteer team, the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, and Ally (GLBTA) Resource Center has grown into a university-funded office with full time and student staff who strive to strengthen and sustain an inclusive campus community. The office itself acts as a safe place for anyone to be hirself and ask questions, while it also houses a LGBT specific resource library with Books & DVDs available to anyone in the AU community. Our staff is here to meet with anyone about their concerns & act as a resource.
As advocates for the GLBT community here at AU, we offer programming, workshops, one-on-one advising, and services to raise awareness on campus. Our Safe Space Sticker Program, Rainbow Speakers Bureau, and Trans 101 Training promote creating supportive environments for students, faculty, and staff. Gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender issues are brought to the university forefront each year through programs like GLBT History Month, SpeakOUT, and the GLBT Studies Colloquium. For those considering AU, the Spectrum Project matches prospective students with current AU GLBTA members to provide a picture of GLBT life on campus and assist with the college transition.
We continually pursue an AU where people of all sexual orientations and gender identities/expressions are understood, appreciated, and fully included in the community. Like our motto states, "Come As You Are!"
Our Mission
The Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, and Ally (GLBTA) Resource Center works to strengthen and sustain an inclusive campus community that welcomes people of all sexual orientations and gender identities by providing support, educational resources, and advocacy.
Our Vision
We envision an AU where people of all sexual orientations and gender identities are understood, appreciated, and fully included in the community and where equitable treatment and outcomes prevail.
