National Gay and Lesbian Task Force: The Academy for Leadership Internship
The Academy for Leadership and Action has a 10 hour per week internship available in our Washington DC office to support the Leadership Programs Director. This is a terrific opportunity to learn about capacity building in the LGBT movement, be part of a curriculum development and training team, and work on a wide range of LGBT social change efforts. The Leadership Development volunteer will help with administrative and logistical support in order for us to successfully implement and complete a data gathering project, schedule a series of trainings and convenings, and collect evaluation data based on these leadership development experiences. The Leadership Conference Internship Program
The Leadership Conference Internship Program offers a substantive, fast-paced internship program designed to give undergraduates interested in civil and human rights some real-world experience. The program provides interns the chance to increase their knowledge and awareness of civil and human rights issues, enhance their understanding of coalition politics, and observe the legislative process of our federal government. Immigration Equality
Immigration Equality is a nonprofit here in DC that’s dedicated to achieving equality in immigration law for LGBT persons. The organization is seeking to hire an intern for the April and May to help us with two large lobby days on Capitol Hill. We will be bringing numerous gay binational couples who are facing a forced separation to meet with their congressmen and representatives to advocate for a change in immigration policy. We are looking for an intern both to help us with the logistics of the events and who would be interested in attending the meetings.

National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association National Office Internship
The National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association (NLGJA) internship is an ideal opportunity for a student interested in non-profit management, news media and/or LGBT issues.
Intern Projects
Assist in the planning and promotion of NLGJA’s LGBT Media Summit & National Convention.
Assist in the planning of NLGJA’s Excellence in Journalism Awards by processing entries and communicating with applicants and judges.
Manage social media communication and interaction.
Provide support to NLGJA staff on projects involving membership, chapter relations, development and programming.

The National Queer Asian Pacific Islander Alliance
The National Queer Asian Pacific Islander Alliance (NQAPIA) is a federation of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) Asian American, South Asian, Southeast Asian, and Pacific Islander (AAPI) organizations. We seek to build the organizational capacity of local LGBT AAPI groups, develop leadership, promote visibility, educate our community, enhance grassroots organizing, expand collaborations, and challenge homophobia and racism. The intern will learn strategies in using public policy, grassroots organizing, and the media to advance social justice. Interns are supervised by NQAPIA professional staff. Interns work primarily on research and writing, policy advocacy, community outreach and organizing. These internships are not paid positions, but academic credit can be arranged. During the winter and spring, interns work anywhere between 15-40 hours per week. Internships are usually about ten weeks.

Witeck Communications Internship
Headed by Bob Witeck, Witeck Communications provides strategic communications and public relations counsel with special expertise on LGBT communications. Freedom to Marry, the campaign to win marriage nationwide, shares its Washington DC office with Witeck Communications. The two organizations are seeking to recruit a qualified, enthusiastic college student intern to volunteer a minimum of 20 hours per week in our shared Washington, D.C. offices. While this is an unpaid position and eligible for academic credit, there will be a financial stipend offered to the best qualified candidate who satisfactorily completes four months internship in our offices.
They are flexible with start and finish dates and understand student schedules, however, we are looking for individuals able to offer four months minimum engagement. Soulforce

Signature Theatre Internship
Signature Theatre is looking for a Marketing Department intern from May through October to help with the position of Publications Manager, while the Publication Manager is on maternity leave. The Publications Manager is responsible for the following:
· Oversee the coordination, quoting, composing, editing, proofing, printing and delivery of all playbills, posters, post cards, invitations and all print and online collateral for the organization
· Serve as in-house webmaster for Signature Theatre website on Wordpress
· Coordinate all media materials for productions
· Act as the liaison between the theatre and any design firm, in-house graphic designer and print companies for print production
· Perform basic design work in Creative Suite 2
· Manage the placement, design and delivery of Signature's ads in print and online publications
· Contribute to the Communications department’s marketing plans
· Compose articles, edit, organize, design and deliver Signature’s e-newsletter
· Organize and supervise all financial aspects of the Communications department
· Serve as Theatre Coordinator for the Helen Hayes Awards
The position is full-time and needs to be filled from the approximately the middle of May 2012 through the middle of October (approximately 5 months). Interns should be recent college graduates who are actively pursuing careers in theater or qualified junior or senior college students who have time to work a full week during the days (hours can be flexible). Interns are treated as a vital part of Signature’s staff and gain valuable real-life work experience at a professional, award-winning, nationally-renowned theater. Intern hours, while subject to change, are generally Monday-Friday from 10am-6pm. Full-time interns receive a small stipend of $100/week.

Camp Outright
Come spend a few weeks in the Green Mountains! This opportunity is ideal for EVERYONE, from retirees, professionals of all ages, to undergraduate/graduate students interested in receiving a brief training and a lot of hands-on experience as camp counselors or activity leaders working with a vulnerable youth population.
Camp Outright is a seven day/six night traditional residential summer camp program for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Questioning youth and their Allies (LGBTQQA), ages 13-22. Campers will participate in a wide variety of daily activities based upon their interests, including swimming and boating, team games like soccer and baseball, archery, and tennis. Other activities will include visual and performing arts, nature exposure activities, and special topical workshops to address needs stated by LGBTQQA youth.

Positions for full time volunteer camp staff include Cabin Counselors, Head Counselors, Floaters, Lead Medical, Lead Mental Health, Medical Staff, Lead Waterfront, Lifeguard, Program Head, Art and Craft Specialist, Drama Specialist, Land Activity Specialist, Nature Specialist, and the Camp Historian.
A number of the positions have overlapping responsibilities and all involve a lot of contact with you.

The Ms. Foundation Fellowship Program is a premiere leadership program providing dynamic, pragmatic, early- to mid-career social change activists the opportunity to spend a year developing their work to elevate the status of women in the U.S. The program includes financial compensation of up to $85,000 for one year (dependent upon project terms and experience), health benefits, and professional development. In addition, recipients will be eligible to apply for a $50,000 continuation grant, post-Fellowship.

Merrimack Valley is a full-time, 10.5-month urban education math tutoring fellowship in two high schools in the Merrimack Valley. We are hiring 50 smart, idealistic, relentless people to work during the 2012-2013 school year. Each Fellow works during the school day with two students at a time for five periods a day, and will have a personal caseload of 12 students all year long. Fellows not only will drive student achievement by providing individualized instruction, but will also build personal and meaningful relationships with urban students and their families during this pioneer year of service. The Pipeline Project is a recruitment, retention, and leadership advancement effort created to produce programs that together will represent a long-term effort to increase the number of people of color working within the nation's LGBT rights, service, and advocacy sector and ultimately increase the level of diversity in the leadership of our movement.
