The American University GLBTA Resource Center volunteer program offers opportunities to volunteer directly (e.g., working in the Resource Center) to AU students only. Faculty, staff, and community members are encouraged to volunteer by donating their time to give a workshop or presentation or lead a discussion. To become a volunteer, download and fill out the Resource Center Volunteer Application Form and Volunteer Availability Form. For more details on volunteering or any questions, please contact the Resource Center.
Volunteer FAQ's
Why would I want to volunteer? The GLBTA Resource Center is an exciting place that works for GLBT education and advocacy on the AU campus. You can be a part of this important service by volunteering at the Resource Center where you will have the opportunity to develop your own talents and work with people who are energetic, fun, and committed to making positive change. Volunteers at the Resource Center help to make the Center what it is today and what it will be tomorrow. The environment is dynamic and friendly, and volunteers receive excellent training in LGBT issues. In addition, volunteers have the opportunity to develop job-related and interpersonal skills and to become a leader in the community. Many professional programs (such as medical school) require volunteer hours. Some Greek organizations also require service hours to be fulfilled. This is a great way to complete those hours and benefit the AU community at the same time. All are welcome to volunteer at the Center.
