AU Student Groups Helping with Haiti Relief

When people around the world are faced with tragedy of epic proportions, Student Activities recognizes that many students and student-led organizations are interested in organizing events to collect monetary donations to aid humanitarian organizations.

Student Organizations or individual students looking to give back to the global community in this way should work with staff in Student Activities to carry out their fund raising and volunteer efforts; groups that wish to collect money for Haitian relief efforts should contact Student Activities for assistance in streamlining the campus' efforts.

AU has established this website to give you more information on recommended charities and events that have already been planned on campus. All funds collected on campus, on behalf of AU or a recognized AU Student Organization, need to be deposited into the organization's Student Activities account, or an ad hoc account established through Student Activities. Donations will then be made through that account to the selected humanitarian organization. Prior to collecting any funds, the Student Organization should give serious consideration to the intended aid recipient.

Here are some questions to consider when selecting an organization to which you would like to donate . If you have any questions, or an interest in organizing fund raising efforts on campus please contact Student Activities at activities@american.edu or 202-885-3390.
