Student Health Insurance

At American University medical insurance is mandatory for all full-time degree students, resident students, and international students on F-1 or J-1 visas. Enrollment in the University - sponsored Student Health Insurance Plan is automatic, and is billed to a student account unless the student submits a waiver that identifies alternate and comparable coverage, prior to the posted deadline date.

Go to my.american.edu to submit a health insurance waiver on-line, or to confirm your enrollment. All students opting to waive participation in the Plan must complete the online Waiver Process by August 31, 2005. For information about the Student Health Insurance Plan, go to THE CHICKERING GROUP. For information about the plan underwriter, select CHICKERING LIFE INSURANCE COMPANY. Choose FAQ's for answers to commonly asked questions including using DOCFIND to locate physicians, dentists, counselors, hospitals, and other facilities.
